I am guilty of going here from time to time though I would much prefer to support local small cafes and coffee shops over massive chains like this one. They boast about having ethical sourcing but I am not entirely sure if that is true or they are just using word fluff to make themselves sound better. Does anyone know a bit more about this?ย
They are as ethical as their money gets them. What I mean by that is they pay extra fees and charges to be "ethical" but they aren't 100%. They go through loopholes to cut costs just like every other chain business.ย

So a lot of it is just virtue signaling then. I suppose a lot of the big chain places do that these days. I mean, at least they are doing something better than they otherwise would be. I know stores and shops used to be a lot worse not only for the environment but for labor in other countries.ย

They could absolutely do better but as far as all companies go, they are not the worst coffee chain out there. They have done things and made changes that are good for the environment so it isn't all bad but they do have a lot more they can change!
