I have never had straight espresso as it is too strong for me but I have had mixed drinks with espresso in them. Everyone says that espresso is basically true coffee and what we know as "coffee" is bean water as it is basically just watered down espresso. With that being said, outside of the flavor, I know coffee has less caffeine but by how much on average?ย

Espresso contains roughly 212 mg of caffeine per 100 grams. A shot of espresso will contain 63 mg vs a cup of standard coffee will contain 12 to 16 mg of caffeine in every ounce on average. I had to look the second part up!ย

So you really do get a lot of caffeine then in one go! No wonder I see people perk up a lot faster drinking shorts of the stuff. I need it blended but even then, I can feel sometimes shaky from it!
