This is news from last year. I had only just found out about it through a post on Twitter. I guess it is being recycled to counter arguments against coffee drinkers. Either way, check this out:

The study's findings applied to ground, instant and decaffeinated versions of the drink and researchers suggested coffee consumption should be considered part of a healthy lifestyle.

Published in the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology, it found the greatest risk reduction was seen with two to three cups per day.

Compared with not drinking coffee, it was associated with a 14%, 27% and 11% lower likelihood of death during the 12.5 year period of the study for decaffeinated, ground and instant preparations respectively.

Study author Professor Peter Kistler of the Baker Heart and Diabetes Research Institute, Australia, said: "In this large, observational study ground, instant and decaffeinated coffee were associated with equivalent reductions in the incidence of cardiovascular disease and death from cardiovascular disease or any cause.

"The results suggest that mild to moderate intake of ground, instant and decaffeinated coffee should be considered part of a healthy lifestyle."

I drink an average of 2 cups per day. Sometimes less, sometimes more. It really depends. Does this convince you to keep drinking it or perhaps drink more of it?

Please tell my wife. She is convinced my coffee obsession is going to kill me! I was recently at the doctor for a checkup and my ticker is doing quite well, in fact I was told the health of my heart matches that of someone 20 years prior. That still did not convince my wife!ย

Be grateful you have someone who cares enough about you to pester over your health. A lot of younger folks will never have such a relationship sadly. Too much drama! That being said, there is more and more evidence that coffee is a powerful antioxidant and good for more than just the heart!

@fr0sted I am grateful!! It can just get annoying. I am sure you understand. And I noticed that trend with today's young adults. They make things too complicated and unstable. Thank goodness for a good cup of coffee and someone to enjoy it with.

I find that coffee helps me sleep better and I have never had any heart troubles in the 15 or so years I had been drinking it.ย

I think the antioxidants play a huge role in heart health!!
